What do you think of the E61

i have the E62 (save the boos for later) and i like it, not love it, but like it. the only issues for me are the lack of a camera and a slow, jerky OS. other than that the screen is awsome, the battery life is great, the qwerty is stupendous, i could go on and on.

oh, and the proprietary headset jack that is cleverly disguised as a normal 2.5 jack is rather irritating

i love my e61. scheduling, wifi, everything. menu speed isnt too bad, battery and rf is great. theres no cons i can really say about it except no camera if you really need one. and who doesnt love a big screen anyway?

Wow. There are no cons really. I use it for schedule, emails, internet radio, internet tv, movies, music, voip... Oh my alarm clock, check weather, rss feeds, thosr are my uses and e61 hands down does a great job on all of em. Infact typing from it now...cons, no camera, no gps

they said all the pros, so i will go for the cons, well actually more of nit picking...

- it is slippery, coz of the magnesium alloy all around it and coz its thin

- sometimes you have to hit the right spot when putting it to your ear to talk, coz of its width, you think you got it right, but not... thats why some people are complaining its has an intermitent weak sound

- wide screen = more face goo on it

- i still have to find a Nokia Music Headset that can use the headset-control for music

- i also cant find a good car holder

- the keypad is addicting

If you want a qwerty and something other than WinMo and don't need a camera, the E61 is perrrrfect. No gripes at all. Except, for me the wifi didn't seem very strong..but that might have just been mine.

liek he said the pros are listed so here are a few cons..
slippery---feels like it is going to slip out my hands at times
slow os---seems like it got even slower after the firmware update
speaker volume is not as loud a sit was when i first go it.??
the bigggest con i have with this phone is that i got a weird bug that no one else on this forum has had. the cursor just started scrolling weithout me using it and would not stop. the phone was unusuable until i updated the firmware and even then it still acted up unitl i removed the battery.

all that said its a great phone and one pro that i will mention is that surfing the net on this phone with tmoble edge is just as fast as surfing with my evdo verizon phone. downloading files is slower but besides that the pages render just as fast.

Ok, I think the speaker volume is quite loud for this phone. I actually use it to watch movies, and internet radio... and its pretty loud.

OS - can be sluggish when you try to install a new software. But its fine, its a lot better than Windows Mobile - memory leaks use to spoil the deal

flexte, I think your phone might have had a virus or something.

I also bought the phone when it is first came out! so, it was more like from first batch. Rumor is nokia has a firmware coming out in few days that will add new stuff to this bad boy! Pretty strong expectations, so we'll see!

i'm using the ad-41 and it works fine...

e61 best of the s60 3rd editions out there... haven't liked a s60 as much since my first one (3650)

pros great screen, battery, most stable of the s60's i find, good memory allocation (ram) and menu speed
solid wif, multitasking and the screen is great for video and nintendo

con qwerty keypad to smushy and not clicky enough (preference)
a little to wide and big, no camera
removing the backplate to swap card.
no music edition app. (easier to use imo)
or wlan wizard like the new ie editions

Having a BT keyboard and the N93 with the multi angled screen I'm not surprised this didnt blow you away. If you have an N73 or N93 right next to it, I noticed that when the N73 goes to the first stage of dim prior to going into screensaver mode (hmm how do i explain this)...It appeared that the E61 was only as bright as the N73 at that time. Basically the N73 was sooo much brighter and sharper in a way that it was painful to look at the E61 Side by side. Dual owners will certainly know what I mean. Anyway, with your current rig the E61 could have only offered you a killer browser experience and super fast messaging while on the fly. Anyway, it's a great alternative as a web browser but seeing how you prefer the wap version of hofo it's not surprising that didnt excite you. Still a great phone but when you pull a lexus up to a ferrari(N93) a porsche (N80ie) and a BMW (N73) it's not as exciting. Now when someone pulls up with a mid 90's Ford Escort (anything motorola) you can see them getting excited. Too bad....guess you'll jst have to suffer through the N95 when it comes out!

Well... not too much wrong with the e61... I've had it for almost 6 months now and I still love it. Amazing reception and voice quality, battery lasts forever, incredible browser and wifi, beautiful big screen, etc.

Another thing that constantly amazes me is the build quality of this phone. No creaks and no flimsy battery cover, no moving parts = solid phone. Simply genius.

I've used a a lot of phones, most recently N80, E70... E61 beats them all !

"Made by Nokia" or "Made in Finland"?? Mine is "Made in Finland" and it's rock solid like you said. I wish I could A B with a non Finnish E61 as I spent so much time with it I could certainly be able to tell a difference. Either way, I'm sure others would be interested as well.

yip the e61 isnt a bad phone at all, but the big screen isnt just as good as i thought it was. The n73 has a much brighter screen imo, and the keypad/board is just...i know i should give more time to get used to it however it is too small for me to be able to type without looking at it, i m pretty sure about that. I guess I want a phone to be really like a phone without all this keyboard stuff being stuffed to it...
