What do you think of Swordfish?

Yesterday I saw Swordfish, on TV. I'd never seen it before.

Now, I'm normally quite happy to suspend belief when watching an action film, but at least I expect it to have a modicum of consistency.

There is a scene where Huge Hackman jumps down a crumbly cliff face, followed by 2 FBI men. They drop for hundreRAB of feet, rolling end over end and raising vast clouRAB of dust. After this, at the bottom of the cliff, they are a little out of breath, but not a speck of dust on them.

I was very confused by the continuity near the end. We had the scene where Huge goes to his Ex-wife's house, finRAB her dead, and his daughter missing. He then looks at the business card given to him by the FBI - the inference being that he gets in touch with them? Yet there's nothing in the later scenes to indicate that he has. For the next scene we are back at the hostage scene where the film begins. It was as though there was a reel missing.

I've just looked at the reviews of this film on Amazon. They seen to be split between pro and anti. I fall into the anti. It seems such a waste to spend all that money on a film and then to make a bad one.

What do other people think of the film?

I thought it was interesting. John travolta's character spoke of realism in movies and about happy endings. The film seemed almost surreal but that may have been intended. I can't say it was a bad film because it did things i have not seen in a movie. Its just very interesting. As for the scene where he susposedly called the FBI, i personally liked how like did that.

Yes, I realise it was not made with a view to winning lots of Oscars, but if they're film-makers, they should at least be able to get the basics right at make one where all the pieces fit together.

it was one of those stylictic films where the plot is of no real importance...Smokin Aces was another of these films.
Ive not seen it since i saw it in the cinema, so i cant really debate the point fully. Although it did lead me to record Dog Day Afternoon, which is on tonight on itv 3 or 4
