so, mr financial responsibility and friends vaguely say they can save over 300 billion a year to double the amount of people the government insures by cutting reimbursement rates for medicare and medicaid and not subsidizing hospitals who have high uninsured patient rates. hmmm, currently we spend around 1 trillion between state and federal gov to fund medicaid and medicare so i dont doubt that we could save that much, but they are also some of the poorest paying third party providers so a lot of places probably arent going to want them if they make drastic cuts to their already poor reimbursement. plus there is a shortage of healthcare workers in many areas, in this is going to increase demand on the system. this is sounding like a really good idea to me, how bout you?
