I think your photography is technically ok, just not very interesting and very predictable. You can do a lot with lighting and creating more emotion and drama, especially in the hurricane pix. Get closer to your subject, chose a part of your subject, and let that tell your story. In your hurricane pix, you are too far from the subjects. Get closer. It's more intimate and people are more engaged when they can really see the evidence of drama.
Also, your pictures are taken at mid-day, try dawn or dusk, or even later at night. All those hurricane pictures would have been considerably improved by taking them at a different time of day or night.
You're on the right track, just time to get out of your box and don't be afraid of doing the unexpected.
