What do you think of MTV?

I mean the music, not the other stuff. I actually stopped watching any of the music on MTV, because all of what they play now I don't really like. :( They just play what's popular and hot at the current moment, and they never show what's good. I hear it's a bit better on MTV2, but I don't get that channel. What do you think about the music being played on MTV2?
 
And Jackass and Punk'd...those are two good shows from MTV.

But seriously, if I'm looking for actual music, I'd try Much over MTV...I don't get MuchLoud though. :(


--- EdgeTV was awesome though, until it left the air because it didn't play enough popular music to have the ratings to make money...did any of you ever see it?
 
reality shows... umm... they are all stagged, like The Osborun.. < fake! the real world is real tho, but other then that.. I bet the rest is staged.
 
I don't get that channel, but I don't think I'd like it because it's mostly all reality shows and stuff. Plus I'm not that big on most of today's music and that's probably the kind of video's they show. I used to like it some in the early 90's.
 
I think MTV sucks now that they only put on programs like 'Room Raiders' or 'Pimp My Ride'. I have always been a fan of MTV2, though. It plays the music I like, has a 'no commercials zone', and Gonzo. Gonzo is brill. Gonzo rules...
 
FUSE...Anyone here know what im talking about? On satellite it is channel 339. It is the best, it is like MTV, but all the shows are like "rockzilla" "Rock countdown" "power fuse" they are all rock shows.
 
MTV is complete ****e now, a few years back it was good, with a decent mix of music, now I don't bother. I find the best and most varied music channel is VH1 Classic.
 
Yeaah....I don't watch much tv because it destroys the mind. I'll watch the local news....movies usually bore me unless it's something that Wows me...my younger sister watches mtv...every time I see what shes watching, it's the same damn thing....The whole teenage dilemma scenerios, and world of dating and reality tv is pretty cheap. TV in general is pretty pathetic...it takes away from real human moments and communication.

If it makes them happy go for it if they enjoy it why not.. its there life let them spend it how they want, and as for it being pathetic, Why is that? Because it entertains people? What is it that makes it so pathetic?
 
I got digital cable and they have all the music channels...They aren't that bad. But I'd rather just listen to stuff when I want to not when they play it.
 
I listen to mtv since 1979 the very first day it came on. But for the most part I'd say for the past few years it is really really bad!!!!!!! I don't like the music they play its either bubble gum female pop or hip-hop/rap. Mtv in the 70's 80' and early 90's was so much better. Especially the the 70's and 80's. Mtv 2 I use to have but digital cable comcast tv is far too expensive so we had to downgrade to just basic cable. which only carries Mtv and that sucks! Mtv has too many stupid useless non-music related programs like the awful jessica simpson and her sisters reality show. The real world has been going on for far too long. I hate all those special show the only ones I tolerate is pimp my ride at times. Now vh1 is just as bad but believe it or not a bit better than mtv. It's weird to see rockers like velvet revolver ( couple of the guns & roses band merabers ) on their channel. What I'm saying is that some of the older rock or metal/ hard rockers are now on the vh1 channel. I try to just listen to the cd player and the radio, this way I can choose the music I love the most. :drummer:
 
I don't like mtv. It mostly plays rap anymore, but I have never been a fan of mtv. That is where people get the idea that Blink-182 is a punk band lol.
 
I know what yo u're talking about THRICE....fuse is awesome! But they don't have as much $$$ as MTV, so late night/early morning they have to run those paid programming show things and that sucks...that's the only drawback in my opinion
