What do you think of cats allowed on the dining table?

I know many cats sit on the couch and stuff, so does ours.
But we have a friend and I was at her house, her cat was all over the place.
Sitting on the kitchen counter, on the dining table while we were eating.
I told her my cat isn't allowed there but she said so what.
Is this weird and unhealthy?
