It takes more than a few hacked e-mails to overturn 200 years of physics understanding. Do these hacked e-mails now make it so that greenhouse gases no longer interact with outgoing infrared radiation? Do these hacked e-mails make it so that humankind is no long spewing increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere?
Read e-mail from any organization and you will find a handful that will raise a few eyebrows. In these hacked e-mails you'll, find, for example, the word "trick" in reference to the "divergence problem" in which tree ring proxy data diverges from the temperature records after 1960. So while there are a few "gotcha" /taken out of context quotes, these e-mails really illustrate the transparent work of the climatologists. The "divergence problem" has been discussed in peer-reviewed literature way before the e-mails were even written. Nothing is being hidden from the public.
What these emails show us is that the scientists don't hold the skeptics in high regard; that they are frustrated with the misinformation and lies that the skeptic community continues to spread. They show us that the scientists are in agreement on the big picture, that increasing concentrations of anthropogenic greenhouse gases is changing the environment in ways that will likely have devastating consequences for human populations around the globe, though they disagree on some of the little details. In the e-mails, there's no evidence that global warming is a hoax, that the science was faked for research dollars. There is no evidence that greenhouse gases don't work in in the ways that they describe.
The deniers do nothing but obstruct, lie and misinformed. And now they stoop to illegal activity as well. This fact remains -- there's no climate model out there that can account for most of our recent global warming without including the forcings from increasing concentrations of anthropogenic greenhouse gases.
