What do you think about the $18,000 bill charged by verizon?

I ran across something that well...Disturbed me. A customer got charged $18,000 for his son using the internet when he thought he had an unlimited plan. Which to me the amount is quite ridiculous. From what I've read (Correct me if im wrong) his son thought they were still under a unlimited plan promotion that they had signed up for, little did they know this deal ends and goes to a limited plan. So to me the reasonable thing would of charged them the $30. Simply because there was a break down in communication between verizon and the customer. In my honest opinion I know for a fact they call you to talk you into there plan to meed a quota that they need to meet for commission reasons. So why weren't they contacted? Why wasn't he contacted that there seemed to be sky rocket in their bill and there must be some mistake. I mean for having an unlimited plan that is $30 it couldn't possibly be costing them that much in data usage. To me it would seem logical to show that it was in fact a mistake and show some real customer service instead of making themselves look like complete money eating monsters whose only concern is how big their next pay check is. For me it kinda makes me want to stop using them simply for the sake of not feeling safe with what my next bill may be.
