I like to add cilantro and some smoked ham hock. Mexican Strawberrys or Pinto Beans as they are called elsewhere and Frijoles on the other side of the Rio Grande are my favorite. Red Beans and Rice and lentils are also pretty darn good on a cold winter night. I'll eat my share of Butter Beans too.
I use bacon, onion, lots of molasses, a little brown sugar, a little mustard, a dash of worcestershire, and some ketchup. Served with fresh homemade bread.
