What do you do if you are the GM?

Okay so you have probably 6 or 7 guys in your AAA team (pitchers) that could possibly pitch big league next season,

you also have a solid infield locked up through 2 more seasons

you have 2 solid outfielders and 2 getting experience in the minors and could be ready by next season

So basically you have no chance at making a run this season BUT you have an ace, an infield and others who want to make a push and obviously win.

so do you....

a) Put in your minor leagers, get them the experience early, put them at the bottom of the order and rotation and put them on a pitch count.

OR do you

b) Sign many past their prime-ers to one year contracts and just go through a painful season and wait until next season when the prospects will have been fully groomed and ready

so, take the risk or play it safe?

This sounds a lot like the Blue Jays, well I would use the rookies to get expieriance, mainly the one you are going to need, also the rookie pitchers as well, as many as you can, then from there pick your best young rotation and your a little more expierianced one and your line-up. Then you are more of a competitive team for that year, and year to come.

I would take the risk. Give the youngsters the opportunity to build on experience; who knows? Maybe a few wins/ build their confidence, they develop a little swagger; next thing you know, they are a wild-card.

Mostly A, but I would sign a few people past their prime. Maybe just one or two veterans, but like the first person says, I would try and allow the youngsters to get confident.

And not that it is important, but I would probably make a better manager than general manager.
