What do you consider the best recipe software for Windows?

Aha, I see. Okay, I can copy the recipe into IrfanView and save it as
a jpg. Sounds totally do-able! Hmmm. I visualize Mother's Day
gifts. :) My kids take their laptops into the kitchen, so a frame
will free up some counter space.

Thanks Janet. I'll get in on the discussion group. Version 11 is what
I just bought.

I'm looking forward to using it.

It sounds like they charge exactly what it's worth, Roy. Freeware is
freeware for a reason usually. Some programmer is learning his trade.
After they learn it good, they start selling it.

Lamex is a perfect example. I won't even go there.

I didn't bother checking the mail today, so perhaps my software will
be there in the morning.

I think its going to be a lot of fun loading what I have already into
the program. I'll make sure to make a report on it after I'm familiar
with the program.

After more than 30 years of programming, I absolutely know that almost
any file can be opened with many, many programs not intended to view
those files.

I have problems relating to beginners and those who have never taken
the time to use the software they have properly.

There are a bunch of wrong ways to import. There usually is only one
right way. Knowing that one way is the difference between a well
versed PC user and one who hasn't bothered to learn how to use the
machine.

Not trying to bust anyone's butt here, but really...this is too easy
to learn.

Lee, copy the text into your photo editing software and save it as an
image. I see that some of those digital frames are wireless, so
theoretically you could send a recipe to the frame from your computer.
Sadly, I didn't find any good reviews.

probably my grandmother's pork chops and rice, her german choc cake, her
pound cake, the other grandmother dinner rolls and chocolate gravy, my
mothers meatloaf and ham and beans, my dressing and dh's lasagna, Lee, now

I used to do that, but I decided to break that rule a couple of weeks
ago. Now I file as I think and if I think two ways - that's how I
file it. If I can't find it immediately when I "hand" search, then
the computer do it with my search terms and turn it up. I haven't
failed yet.

I just joined the Yahoo MC discussion group you mentioned earlier. I
saw the recipe group also, but I'll wait until I'm more familiar with
MC before getting into that.

Ok, since nobody has stated the obvious i will:)

What do YOU consider the best recipe?

I know its like asking what's the best, book, poem, movie, song, etc.

But i do have my own top ten list.

And in no particular order it includes chicken fried steak, a chicken
fricassee that uses red wine and beef gravy is also on the list, chicken
& shrimp, BLT's, salad, plain, boiled & salted black eyed peas, plain
boiled beef, garlic sourdough toast, and anything chocolate:)

Roy,

I remember before the Internet fully flowered, I was on CompuServe at
300 baud. 30 cps (circa 1985). Before that, in 6th grade, I was IM on an
APL/360 golfball typewriter paper output terminal. Primitive but very
cool at the time.

Youngsters today don't even know what life was like before Netscape.
"Mom! What's Gopher?"

Since we're waxing nostalgic, studying Pascal at UCLA we had to use
Hollerith cards. It compiled into about 20 sheet/pages of JCL and one
page of output. When the course was over I remember, like it was
yesterday, taking my shoebox of carefully ordered Hollerith card
programs and throwing them up in the air and let them shower down onto
the living room floor. Looking back all I can say is WHY THE HECK DID
THEY TEACH US SUCH USELESS OUTDATED CRAP?!?!?

I still get a laugh at a great saying...

"If your computer had eyes, you'd look like a statue."

I do that, too. Mis en place (sp). Still I wind up taking up loads of
counter space with all the little dishes and bowls and chopping and
cutting boards that there is no room for a computer. If I dirty a piece
of cheap printer paper, who cares. I'd hate to ruin a keyboard with
spilled sauce or have my laptop stink of onions.
