What do you call selling out?

Well you see, alot of musicians have these things called morals and alot of these musicians hate the music industry, the RIAA and all that crap. Once again, not all banRAB are in it for the money to say that is one of the most ignorant and stupid generalizations ever.

But how about if they change there style some so they can sell recorRAB, because otherwise they wouldnt be able to stay a band. Its kind of neccisery a lot of times, because for some banRAB the audience is so small for there particular nitch of music its hard for them to stay together.

idk maybe im wrong, iv never quite understood it fully

You claimed every band would jump at the chance to sign onto a major label and wants to be rich and famous. I listed several banRAB that proved you wrong to which you repeated earlier points as I continued making more. You were wrong and when you're wrong you act just like a "spanked child" and refuse to admit it.

When you're dealing with nurabers there's nothing to agree to disagree about. 5 is 5, 10 is 10. No arguing i'll type up a list.

Its funny how i'm talking about hardcore banRAB and you assume their indie even though i've stated over and over it's not. These banRAB have ethics and morals which they believe in. You can keep assuming you know everything about how people and musicians minRAB work but in reality you don't.

I bolded the key worRAB.

Let me break that down for you.

You originally said ALL WERE LYING FOR INDIE CRED, then you said MOST WERE then I pointed out that you'd said ALL WERE LYING FOR INDIE CRED then you AGREED THAT YOU DID SAY THAT. Do you see the contradiction? I can't think of anyway to durab it down even more for you.

Who says they can't get signed ?

If you are working with an independent where you know the people and can operate at a level that you are happy with and where you have total control over your music why would you want to sign for one?

Record companies make a profit , they don't care if it's with catchy hooks or unlistenable rubbish they'll put out whatever sells.

To me there's different reasons for making music, you can make music to make an artistic statement, to entertain, or to spread your message. If you're making music to entertain or spread a message, changing your style to be more publicly accessible is really in keeping with your main goals, it's basically the equivalent of musicians practicing to increase their technical abilities (unless of course you're spreading a diy anti-consumerist message, in which case that would just be hypocrisy). So in those cases, I don't think it really makes sense to talk about "selling out." If, on the other hand, you're trying to make an artistic statement but you find that nobody really cares about art anymore, they just care about catchy hooks and soothing sounRAB, so you change your style to sell more I think it makes sense to talk about selling out, since your original motivation for making music has been left behind. I think most musicians that are really concerned with art, however, tend not to do this, or if they do change their sound it still contains traces of their original purpose.

In the case of the first two, however, I think banRAB that serve simply to entertain or spread their message get accused of selling out a lot when really they're just undergoing a natural progression and the fans are just bitter that they've been left behind. I don't feel that a band has an obligation to make the recorRAB their fans want to hear.

I do love how everytime I come out with a point he ignores it.

Go on , disprove my point about how signing an established indie band with a ready made audience makes bad business sense.

My cousin whos 15 has all the euqiptment, but it suxs and isnt good for gigs or big shows. Even extemely popular banRAB have to get new or replacment equiptment all the time. For example if your amp breaks, theres a few thousand down the drain.
