Take it from someone who lived this as a child. You need the money to eat. I would have much rather been from a broken home than in a broken home. Both parents need to have a relationship with their child not necessarily with each other.

i believe when a child lives with one and the other parent is a good influence on their life they should maintain a healthy bond with the child AND also financial help because its hard in to days world on one budget. They need to make sure the child is cared for the best possible way nice clothes food etc.
If the other parent is a negative in the child's life just financial help..
