What do teenagers eat?

I'm a great cook and I make some awesome meals that taste like they should be in a 5 star resturaunt..my only problem is my husbands daughter is picky and hates them all! My kitchen is fully stocked..but she says there is nothing in there for "her". *sigh* Her idea of cooking is Burger King...I've tried to teach her how to cook but she is not interested and I am NOT going to get her fast food 3x a day either. When I ask her what she likes to eat so I can cook that- "I don't know." She hates beef, she hates pork, she hates most types of chicken, she hates all vegetables and most fruits. What the heck do kids eat these days other than fast food?!?

Your husband's daughter is not a typical teen.

Most teens eat a good range of foods. (My daughter eats most things -- she doesn't like carrots, raw tomatoes, peppers, coffee, most soft drinks ... eats just about anything else.)

(I'm puzzled though -- if she 'hates' beef and chicken, what does she eat at Buger King?)

You don't say if this young woman lives with you or not, but you dont' have to be a short order cook. You cook meals, and have a reasonable assortment of other foods in the house that she can serve herself if she doesn't like what you put on the table. (Yogurt, eggs, peanut butter, dry cereal, etc.)

They will all be picky if allowed to do so. When you serve a family meal remind her that she is part of the family. If she doesn't eat, she goes hungry. No burgers, no pie, no ice cream, nothing until the next meal. Case closed.

they eat chocolate, more chocolate and more chocolate....oni jkin lol...it seem lyk this daughter is jus goin thru a phase...she'll like your food once she's REALLY hungry....try PIE that might do the trick...?

Chicken Fingers, French fries, etc are always good. If you're making something with a sauce, go for the sweet sugary sauces rather than more complex flavors. Can't go wrong with things like pizza, tacos, etc.

I don't think the problem is your cooking. I noticed that you said "husband's daughter" - sounds more like a "you're not my real mom" rejection of your cooking. I suspect that even if you got an answer about what she wanted and cooked it perfectly she still would complain.

Does she like what your husband makes? You could cook an entire meal and pretend that he cooked it. That's kind of passive-aggressive, though, and accomplishes nothing.

The only thing I could suggest is just giving in, Buy some frozen pizzas, chicken tenders fries, hot dogs.. OR take her to the grocery store with you.. Have her get some things she likes and just keep them in the house.

Well I'm picky too! (But more a McDonald's girl than Burger King. Blech...)

I wont eat pork. I hate a lot of salt and pork isn't the healthiest thing for you. . .lol. I don't even like bacon!

I used to hate beef.
But. . .then I went to Texas Roadhouse. . .HAHAHA they have these awesome kebabs. And OMG they'll turn a vegetarian to a carnivore!

Try to get her to try different things!
Get her to help you in the kitchen when you try different recipes.
Tell her to at least try it because you can't live off of Burger King.

I'm not a big fan of the "eat or go hungry" approach.
More of the "show her you cook with love" direction.

Talk to your husband! Get him to talk to her about it.
Give her some time. Trust me its not easy to get over being picky.
I'm still working on it.
She might grow out of it faster than I am.
