what do i say to someone with pain pill addiction not alcoholism

I have a friend currently in a 28 day rehab facility for pain pill addiction. She is resistant to AA's 12-step because she says that alcohol is NOT her problem, only pain pills. I know that one addiction can easily lead to many other addictions. But since she has to decide for herself, is there really anything I can or even should say about her social drinking?

Hi gina --2 things come to mind. First is NA --its not AA, but kinda of the same concept. There are a bunch of people in the groups that have a pain pill addiction. 2) would be that she neeRAB to know that NA is ALL or NONE policy. I fought that for almost a year. Thinking I ONLY HAVE A PAIN PILL addiction, and I would drink ever night. No biggie, I can handle it. When I am not a drunk, but I still do drink every night and I would bet that its was my drinking that KILLED my 8 months sobriety. I stopped going to NA and kept drinking, then let me gaurd down one night and here I am a few months later in the middle of HELL with no way out. There is no good ending a pill addiction. Jail, death, or detox. those are her chioices
