What do i need to know when chosing bars for my bike?

I have an '09 street bob i believe it has 12" bars. i want to go about 4" taller. Burly brand has 16" apes in black. it says they have "narrow" and 10" pull back 1.25' dia. not sure what i need to know. also what about cables?
 
Here is the minimum that you will need. Measure the clutch cable to see if it is long enough, get a longer front brake line assembly, you might have to get a longer front wiring harness for the turn signals and start button. and after that is all done, you need to check your state laws to see if the new handlebars are within legal limits. If you do it yourself, your looking at a few hundred dollars, If you pay a shop to do it, it could cost over $500
 
Narrow means that the bars are specically made for HD's "narrow glide" front end, the 39mm forked front ends found on Sportsters and earlier Dynas. The pull back is how far back the handlebars ends pull back towards you from the center line of the riser. Extendeding the bar heaight will mean you will need new clutch and throttle cables, along with custom fitted brake line, AND extended handlebar control wires. If you want the job done RIGHT and have it look GOOD, you want the wiring concealed and ran through the bars, not zip tied to them on the outside. To do all this and have it done right so that it looks good and not like a butcher did it, it will cost around $1000-1300.

Alot of people make a BIG MISTAKE of just ordering bars through the catalog and not trial fitting them to the bike and get stuck with bars that are uncomfortable.......don't make this mistake!!!!
Go to a shop that has a good selection of bars in stock and trial fit them on your bike to see how you will like them.
