I am leaving for boot-camp April 1st and would just like a little insight on what to expect when I get to bootcamp. Also It would be greatly appreciated if you could give some insight on what to study so that im the most prepared for when I leave and maybe anything that you wish you would have done or learned before you left for great lakes....Thank you for all your answers in advance.

Oh where to begin ...=) You will need to make sure that you are getting into shape now, you will have your PFT at the end of boot camp, and you will need to be able to run 1.5 miles in about 12 minutes. You will also have your swimming test. You will need to be able to swim 50 yards, tread water for 5 minutes, and be able to use your clothing as life support in the water.

You will get tons of shots at Red Rover. Beware of the "Peanut Butter" shot (shot in the butt).

You will need to know the sailors creed and the 12 general orders. Begin to learn these now. Your RDC's will drill them into your head.

And always listen to your RDC's. If you don't...I will feel very sorry for you. And enjoy Battle Stations at the end of boot camp.

no personal experience here, but my friend who was one of the toughest guys in our school who played football and wrestled and was in great shape told us he cried like a baby. i think preparing yourself mentally is your biggest challenge.

the most important thing is to be in good shape. i mean push ups and running.

after that, just make sure to pay attention to what your drill instructors are saying, and you should be golden.

Get in the best physical shape you can. I mean run three miles a day.If you need any dental work done then by all means get done before you leave for boot camp.Talk about heartless dentist the navy has them all. Prepare for shots galore they will vaccinate you for everything from the 'creeping crud' to gawd awful never get overs'.I could go on but thanks for your Patriotism and good luck.
