I have a 93 pontiac bonneville i took it to get a emissions test an it failed. The car passed everything except the NOx ppm 50/15 test. The NOx ppm 25/25 test passed with a reading of 371 an allowed 773. The NOx ppm 50/15 test reading was 1516 an allowed was 853, which failed. I dont know what that mean or what could be the problem, my mom took the car to her friend brother (which is a machanic) to see what my car needed to pass emissions an he said my car needed an resornator.Im having doubts if ithats what i need, I've done some research on resornators an from what i saw it is only to reduce the car sound. If my car does need one how much will one cost, can you install it your self, an were do you find one?
It has 92,645 miles an i rarly drive the car

put some injector cleaner in....take it to the highway.....drive the shit out of it for 1.5 - 2 hrs do the test again......u will pass....worked for me

How many miles gets put on the car and the kind of driving? If it sets alot then you will get condensation in the oil and cat and cause all sorts of stuff like this. I have a car that gets drove a few times a week only about 100 miles a week and it always has trouble. If this is the case just put plenty of gas in it and go drive down the interstate and back to run a tank of gas through it and check again with the motor good and hot from just being drove. If this is not the case go to the part store and read the codes. Then let us know what they are the kind of car and how the car is used. usually something simple.
