What do i do??

if you cant get your parents to help out then ask an aunty or uncle or someone and get your parents to allow them to go with you etc............also get the phone book and spend the day ringing up every doctors surgery and talk to the receptionist and find out if the doctors there treat minors.........its not fair that you have to suffer like this!!! either that or keep going back to the ER everyday until someone actually does something!!!

I just called about 20 doctors and none of them will take a minor! What is with gi specialist not taking minors??? I am so defeated right now! I feel like my spleen is going to burst for no reason yet discovered before i turn 18 and they will see me!!!

At this point i think my best bet for getting a doctor would be to just go to the ER and not leave until they will agree to figure it out for me! I swear this is like age descrimination! just cause im 15 NO BODY will treat me!?!?!?
 
My parents are going to take me to the er in a few days, since i have plans for this weekend and im not letting this ruin them. We live in a pretty small city so there really isnt many places to go for doctors. I had looked as far as almost 2 hours away and they would take me either.

My pain hasnt been too bad lately but im not going to tell the er that because they will probably send me home if i do. I will just lie and say that it hurts really bad and they need to figure it out.
 
Why do you not have a parent to be with you? Unless you are emancipated legally then no one can treat a minor without parental consent. Why do you think your spleen is going to burst... How do you know it is your spleen?
 
No my parents will be with me. They wont see me period.
My spleen showed up on the ct scan double the size and my old doctor told me not to let anything touch it because it was too big, and to take tylenol so that it will help reduce the swelling.
 
Why won't your primary care doctor see you? I'd get looked at even if it's at the emergency room, something sounRAB not right. Good luck with this. Do you have an older friend that can take you to the emergency room or to a public health clinic in a bigger city? These are many times free if you don't have insurance or can't use your insurance without a parent's ok.
 
You could also look up the AMA, American Medical Association. It's probably located in a big city in your State and tell them doctors are refusing to see you. They probably have a toll free nuraber. I've never heard of this where doctors refuse to treat minors even with a referral.
 
Thanks i will look at that. My original doctor told me i would have to go down to a wayy bigger city that is about 3.5 hours away and that would be okay if it would be like a procedure done, but i cant go there for check ups and stuff.

I havent gone to the er yet cause my mom doesnt want to take me but my dad will. She doesnt think they will be able to do anything about it. Im not in a lot of pain but it is still clearly swollen and i can feel it inside and outside being in places it shouldn't be.

Im going to look up that website right now and see if i cant get a nuraber for it and then i will call it on tuesday when it will be open.
 
Do your parents have health insurance. What about getting a referral from a pediatric doctor even though your an older teen? Some specialists and health insurances require a written referral or they won't see you.
 
Yeah i am fully covered and insurance isnt why they wont see me. I called the pedeatrician nurse and she said if i cant find anyone then to go to the ER and someone there will have to treat me. I had my referral transferred to one place and thats when they called and said they didnt know before that i was a minor and that the doctor wont see me. About 15 doctors said that they dont treat minors.....

I just dont get why they wont.. it is just something none of them do for some unknown reason.
 
He will but he said he has no clue anymore what is wrong and he "thinks im getting better" which he has NO evidence at all that i am,, so he says he will give me stuff to help my symptoms but no pain medicine. No one will give me any.

I am feeling better. I think a lot of the pain had to do with stress. It is still swollen and i take hot baths to reduce it and some tylenol. I dont think the hospital will do anything. I have no clue what they could do. They already did blood tests, ct scans, xrays, and upper gi barium series...What else could they do.

I dont have anyone that can. My parents simply dont have the money to take me down. We are going to wait like two or three weeks((unless i feel it gets worse)) and see how it is and maybe it will resolve. I am for sure going to ask for another ct scan sometime int he next month cause i want to make sure nothing changes and only gets better.
 
Make sure and get a copy of all your medical recorRAB ~ copies of the CT scans and all the blood tests, and reports so you have these if you go see a specialist.
