What do I do now?

One year ago I had a spinal fusion on L5/S1. After a period of depression and just not knowing what was going on, I finally started feeling better. I actually went days without pain meRAB. Then the pain came back and worse then before. Now I feel like blood flow occasionally gets cut off of my legs. I can't sleep at night without sleeping pills and even then wake up several times. I am taking the pain pills every 6 hours and by hour 5 I'm watching the clock. The new xrays and MRI all show that the fusion has worked and looks great. Everything looks just as it should. So now what do I do? The surgeon in recommendeding a CT mylogram to see what is going on with the nerves. My pain doc just keeps giving me drugs. Am I doing somthing wrong? Why can't I get relief from the surgery or injections. Does anyone have an opinion on the ct mylogram!!!!! Waiting for suggestions![/FONT]
 
Fusions are such serious surgeries and there is never a guarantee of a complete recovery of symptoms. Many years ago I had fusion surgery. There were complications and I was bedridden three months after. Slowly I got better but my back was in spasm for over a year. Also I never did have complete nerve pain relief. Remeraber the nerves can take two years to recuperate. Make sure that nothing else is going on and then shoot for good pain management. Gabapentin works best for me 2100 mg a day.
 
I think the surgeon is steering you right...a myelogram ct is the right test to see what is going on with the nerves. Some people don't get relief from injections while others have very good luck. Once the ct scan is done, both your doctors will have a better idea of how to treat you more successfully.
