What do I do if i get into a bicycle crash?

Today, I was riding down a busy street where it is considered a bike route but without a bike lane. I was pedaling as usual until a car popped out in front of me and turned right. I couldn't stop in time so I hit his car and my bike was forced to the right. Luckily, there were no injuries but I did scratch up his car. He came out of the car and started blabbing "bruh!, look what chu did to ma car" and "did you not see my blinker??". How the hell do i have eyes on the back of my head. I thought the law was to yield to bicyclists but he popped out of nowhere. He was right turning into an auto shop so the shop owner came out and dismissed the whole scene(told me to leave). What happens if I get into an accident in the future where I'm actually injured or I scratch up another car?

The law is for him to yield to traffic going in the same direction to his right, whether it be a motor vehicle, bicycle or pedestrian. He was at fault and he should have given you his insurance information. Not doing so is illegal. The auto shop owner was probably more concerned with not wanting to lose a customer and so told you to leave. He was wrong to do so. You should contact the police and file a report. Since the auto shop owner might have this guy's information, then there is a chance he can still be made liable for what he did.

BTW the guy is almost guilty of a hit and run, too, since he didn't stay to make certain you were alright and taken care of.

I would treat it the same as a car accident if there are any injuries or damages. Take down cotact and insurance info and report it if need be.

Traffic laws apply (mostly) to bikes. if you are struck from behind it is almost never your fault. In this case, it would appear as though the driver was obstructing your lane of travel by turning into the shoulder, which was denoted as a bike path, and therefore is at fault.

for future reference, just don't run into any stopped cars and you should be fine. Just be sure to get out of the road if you are hit, regardless of who is at fault.
