I am in the state of California and somebody hit my car while it was parked (and I was in it). At the time I thought the damage was minor so the guy said he would probably pay for it and not go through insurance. However, it turns out after several estimates the damage is a couple of thousand dollars and the person who hit me said he would go through his insurance. However, after contacting him everyday for several weeks he still has not provided it to me. In California, auto insurance is mandatory. I'm just wondering what my recourse is here? I have his name phone number, and license plate number.
What do I do if a person that hit my car will not provide insurance information?
