What do I do if a cop car who has had his lights on for a while comes behind me?

I'm getting my license in a couple days, and I was just thinking about this. If a cop car who seems to be on an emergency call and I'm in the left lane and I have no where to go, should I speed up so the cop can get to where it needs to be (by passing te cars on the right), or should I keep going my same speed and wait for an opening to get over?
 
You are supposed to move to the right, but only if you can do so safely. You do not speed up and try to pass, you wait for an opening.
