I've decided to take the plunge and order the first three volumes of the journal Mechademia. I expect to have a great deal to say about this later.

Well, First you click "register" on the front page, then you pick a username and a password, then they send a confrimation message to your email and after that they activate your account. That's it!

My Best Buy finally got volume 1 of Claymore in. I love the show, and at one point I even considered getting it, until I remerabered the fact that how much the anime licensers charge for singles is disgusting. $22 for 5 episodes or $30 for those 5 eps, a bonus disc, and a booklet? I was hoping that the economy would help lower anime release's prices.

On the otherhand, to those who bought the disc already, how is the dub? Does the English cast actually improve over the original Japanese version? And for that matter, how good is the booklet? Worth the extra few bucks?

1) Awesome profile pic

2) I would say wait a while untill claymore isnt so new, it will get a complete season box soon enough.

3) The economy isnt that bad to the point where people stop buying anime, now when people completly or almost completly stop then the prices will go down.

Thanks. Awesome user name, too.

That's true, and you're right. The only problem, though, is waiting until all the singles are released, which could drive me crazy.

Then again, maybe I should just invest my money in the manga instead.

Yeah, as much as it blows to have to wait so long for a farily priced season release, I have to agree with Yusuke (my god it feels so odd to say that ). It's really not worth spending so much money on a single, even for really good anime, IMO. Plus, if more people avoid the singles, then the anime companies will catch onto this, and start planning most of their releases to be in the form of season sets, right away.

Only problem with that is that companys get more money from people who collect the singles, and if they just put episodes straight to box sets they would lose money in the long run, but still, it would be nice.

Not necessarily. As long as they adequately priced the season sets, they would be able to make enough money off of them. Also, if the companies completely stopped selling singles, then nobody would be able to buy them, and they would just end up turning to the more convenient season sets.

Since no company has actually tried doing this, before, it can't be said for sure whether it would work or not. But I believe that it would work. People will buy the singles because they are available, but with the economy still not improving, people may start being more cautious with their money, and decide that its not worth it to spend $25 on just 4 or 5 episodes of anime.
