Rightstuf still hasn't shipped me One Piece Season 2, Third Voyage. What the heck, guys? Up until now you always got it to me on time, if not well ahead of time. I hope this is a fluke. I am waiting to fall in love with dubbed Chopper here. Make haste.
Part 2 of Gundam 00 came from Amazon. The Limited Edition DVD packaging for this series is probably going to get thrown away. The first limited edition came with a real box that contained the DVD case and two manga volumes.
In contrast, LE 2 contains its DVD case and one manga volume with the kind of slip cover that was used for the two-case releases for Code Geass and several other recent titles. I preferred the box, which let you take things out and keep them out with the box remaining sturdy. With the slip case both objects have to be in or the contents are loose since there is no top or bottom, and it is a bit more flimsy. So I wouldn't take out the manga and then put the package back on the shelf, I would instead just keep the package lying around until I was ready to put it all back.
I suppose I just made a small complaint, but for me this is just as well. I prefer to store my anime and books on dedicated shelves, and the LE1 box is a space hogger. Six of those would probably have 00 taking up more space than Gundam Seed Destiny's limited edition packaging, and as collectors of it know that is really saying something. In contrast, the 00 DVD cases themselves are great space savers since they store two discs into a single-size case.
I still suggest buying the limited editions, however. Amazon loves to discount them so that they are only slighly more expensive than the normal release, if not the same price as part 2 is right now! So if you shop smart you're basically getting manga for nothing.
Oh, and we did indeed get that nice R2 packaging artwork featuring Exia and the protagonists. Bonus points to Bandai for that. It looks like part 3 will have the counterpart to it, which includes Soma and Sergei and Graham along with a certain customized Flag.
