So, what's everyone gonna get this month?

As for me, here's what I plan on getting:

Dragon Ball: Season 1 Uncut
School Rurable: Season 1 + OVA (Viridian)
Daphne In The Brilliant Blue Collection 2
009-1: Complete Series (Viridian)

Unfortunately, I'm afraid I won't be able to get One Piece: Season 2, Third Voyage nor Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Season 1, Part 2 when they get released. I'll be leaving for a week in Las Vegas on Septeraber 25.

As always, I'm not sure if I'll get everything on my list, but we'll soon see.

Finally, here's what I got today:

Daphne In The Brilliant Blue Collection 1--I saw the first episode and it looked like a very enjoyable show!
Grenadier: Complete Series--I got it in the mail today. The bath scenes are terrific, especially in episode 11!

Remeraber, don't start posting until tomorrow, everybody!

^ Thats my lot

I'm pretty sure I just grabbed the thinpak collection of Macross for about half off, not counting shipping admittedly.

Normally I don't order from random third parties ("super duper club?"), but what the heck.

Eh, probably will get Season 1 Part 2 of 00 later sometime down the road. But for this month it's probably just gonna be the latest One Piece.

Which reminRAB me... Rightstuf still has yet to send me last month's One Piece set. Perhaps they're waiting for their stock of this month's set so they can send me both at the same time?

A man can dream...

anime
Bleach Movie 2: The Diamond Dust Rebellion
Honey & Clover Box Set 1
Naruto Uncut Box Set 16
Naruto Shippuden Vol. 1

manga
Tegami Bachi, Vol. 1
Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 20

busy month for me

Yeah... It's kindof weird. But then again I already have Voyage 1 for Season 2 and there doesn't seem to be any problem with my order other than they're working on it.

Although waitatic my bank account shows that an amount is being deducted for $29.99 to TRSI, so I guess it's on its way then...

Wow, I wrote that two weeks ago, and sure enough there's my Septeraber 2009 issue of Newtype waiting for me. Will take some time to page through it later.

Shonen Jump US - Oct. 2009 Issue

I've been saving up my money for AWA, so I'll be planning on buying a lot of stuff there. Mainly, the Love Hina manga and, surprisingly, Ghost Stories (yes, the person who nominated it doesn't own it. I've seen the first episode, loved it, but haven't thought about it until ADV's "metamorphosis" when it was brought up in the announcement thread)

Same for me. They're also sending Romeo x Juliet part 2, Gunslinger Girl 2, and part 1 of Sgt. Frog well ahead of its release date late this month. Good stuff.

Paged through my Newtype magazine. I actually messed up a bit, since it had a Fate/Stay Night spread in this Type-Moon insert extra but not the one that I thought it would have. Whoops. I'll have to be more careful. But it's still nice, and it features Saber. But I repeat myself.

It's interesting, because with this I realized that Newtype USA started off very close to the original layout and improved itself. Take the episode guide, which makes all the sense in the world for the Japanese magazine but wasn't very practical for English readers that don't have access to Japanese television. They ultimately got rid of that and the magazine didn't suffer at all. Before long NTUSA ended up with a healthy serving of anime/manga/game reviews and even a few original features on top of the Japanese stuff that was ported over. They would tell you what was happening with anime overseas, not just in the U.S. Original Newtype seems to excel at everything that happens in Japan, which is natural since that's its readership. Both worked. It's too bad ADV's financial troubles ended their publishing ventures and deep-sixed the magazine.

I can't help noticing that everything having to do with Macross Frontier (which wasn't that much) was overly servicey. On one page it's got a drawing of Minmei as she is in Do You Remeraber Love, and Ranka and Sheryl elsewhere, and the Frontier girls don't benefit from the comparison. Minmei's attractive and classy, whereas the Macross F girls are drawn like they're posing for Sports Illustrated. Okay, not quite like that, but close. I hope it got more respect back when it was actually on TV.

Well, anyway, it was worth trying out. It isn't very extra-heavy and I can't read Japanese right now (I'm toying with learning at some undefined point in the future), so I can't see myself importing as a regular practice. From time to time though, I might do it again.

Also, I think Kira Yamato was #1 on some character poll. I'm sort of impressed by that kind of staying power, but what the hell. Someone kick him off already. He's not that great, people.
