What did I do to my wireless router?

And how do I fix it? Everyone was getting wireless in this house except me.I read that my laptop has internal wireless card.o I tried installing the router CD. At one point it said do something or hold the reset button for ten seconds. I did that. During the process, it said hook the ethernet cord from one of the numbered ports to the ethernet port on your computer. The ethernet port on my computer doesn't work so I stopped. But now no one can get wireless internet. There is a person here who has x box. we tried some things. unhooking the modem for ten seconds, the router for thirty seconds. I tried even longer times. On the x box screen it shows it's receiving the signal and it is strong but it's not picking up the internet. It had some points on what to do if you can't get wireless. It looks like it has to do with the dns. Probably when I hit the reset button.
