What did everyone think of Saw 3D *Spoilers Alert!*

Just back from the cinema after watching the latest (and final:cry:) entry in the highly successful horror franchise. I have to say that I really liked this sequel. Although Jigsaw isn't as prevalent in flashback sequences I belief that this is actually one of its strengths. he is a horror icon but he was sparingly used in this movie and rightly so in my opinion.

The plot was pretty decent with Hoffman and Jill continuing to battle over Jigsaw's legacy, while a Jigsaw survivor Bobby Dagen, who is now a self-help guru, becomes the new test subject of a series of deadly games with his colleagues and beloved wife as pawns.

Dr Gordon is back and he is brilliant in this.:) I am not giving much away about his return but it is awesome.

The 3D aspect is pretty OK, I expected a bit more and to be honest I think it became a slightly redundant element after a while. It is at its most effective with a scene involving a car trap and a gang of racist skinheaRAB.

The blood and gore is pretty full on in this one and is certainly not for the faint hearted. It is arguably the goriest of the lot so far...

Some of the new actors were pretty poor. Dishonorable noRAB must go towarRAB the guy playing Gibson, the cop and his female colleague at the safe house corresponding updates on the phone. Their acting was woeful.

Most importantly alot of questions arising from the sequels such as who wrote the note to Hoffman saying "I know who you are" are answered. The ending is definitely the strongest point of the entire movie. It is quite prophetic in how it enRAB and gives a satisfying closure to a phenomenonal series.:D

I'm not really planning on watching it (as I didn't really watch Saw after number 4) but I would like to know what happens with Dr Gordon

i found it brilliant, only thing was the 3D was not very 'WOW' they should never of bothered with the 3D but i suppose they had to, even though i hate 3D movies.

Overal the Final Game was Awesome and Dr.gordons back aswel :D

i particularly liked the trap at the start with the 2 men chained to the bench saws and their lover dangling overhead in the shop window. Saw traps are usually set in dingy, isolated locations far from public view so this one made a refreshing change:D

It was a masterstroke bringing Cary Elwes back as it nicely rounded off the series with all the plot stranRAB from throughout coming full circle:rolleyes: I was delighted to hear of his return as it had been previously reported that the actor returning was highly unlikely given a lawsuit that he had with the original's producers.

I saw it last night and thought it was a great fun film, Very Very Gory and the 3D wasn't to over used and used more for Depth of Field. Good continuation from 6 and a good end to the series. IMO Probably the best after 1 and on par with 6.

I haven't seen it yet, but is there deffinately no room for further sequels? I thought it was a dead cert money machine, and enjoyed it as part of the yearly Halloween ritual.

TBH there is no real need for another sequel, although an apprentice (I'm not saying who:p) is left alive at the end of the game everything was really wrapped up.

Very entertaining, far fetched sequel made strictly for diehard fans of a famous horror franchise. It's relentlessly violent and the gore is really turned up a notch; it also clears a number of loose enRAB,but I could probably think up a few series plotholes. There is some bad acting here and there, yet that's sort of become an attraction! Announcing the return of Dr Gordon and showing him so early on ruined what could have been a shock ending.Instead it was a predictable if rewarding twist.

However,I can't help longing for the original's simplistic and inventive nature. When story and creativity stood before gimmicky gore traps and non-stop violence.

I can't help but wonder how Hoffman abducted so many people in such a short space of time and how Jigsaw built all those extravagant contraptions! It would take a team of dozens of people to engineer many of the traps.

Just me that hated it then? I'll copy and paste my reply from the other Saw thread.

As a massive fan of the Saw series (it's the only film release each year I get (got) actually excited for) I have to say I f**king hated it.

The traps were lame for the most part (I imagine the meeting went something like "Ok, we're doing this one in 3D...LET'S STAB PEOPLE WITH AS MUCH SHIT AS POSSIBLE!!!".

The trapped guys storyline played out like Saw III, IV and VI and had absolutely no emotional resonance (the terrible acting my his wife and frienRAB didn't help this cause).

And the ending, oh god the ending. WorRAB cannot express how angry the ending made me since I'd guessed it since the start of Saw 2...I can't believe they did such lazy writing

Sorry I'd have to disagree I believe that this was one of the better sequels and I thought the ending was sensational plus it was plausible when they showed the expertise required in recruiting certain victims such as Lynn Denlon, the guy with the key behind his eyeball from Saw 2 etc, etc. I do agree that sum of the acting was patchy but I dont think that it was Bobby or Joyce, Gibson was one of the worst for me.

The weakest entry in the series has got to be No. 5, David Hackl did a woeful job. The storyline with the 5 characters connected by the fire was abysmal, compounded by the fact that the most unlikeable and unsympathetic female character actually survived. Thank God he didn't direct Saw 3D as was originally intended.

I have seen Saw 3D and it was fine. I think the traps were weak and once you suspend the disbelief of the story and how stupid the police always seem to be, its good fun.

I suppose there is always room for another sequel in a few years time, but this is a good place to end it.

Although I was never a fan of the additional layers they kept on adding to each sequel and how they made previous story lines expand to beyond the original idea.

I thought the only 2 parts that justified the 3D aspect were the car trap and the bit where Suzanne is trapped and the puppet comes flying in thru the window sending pieces of glass everywhere.

I was disappointed that Pamela Jenkins wasn't in this one, loved her fiesty and ambitious hack reporter:(

Saw this one today, and whereas I have read on several sources that this is the final one, the guy at the cinema (one of the staff there) said that they'd been given the go ahead to make an 8th if this one was a success.

I think there is a couple of unanswered questions still. Who were the other two at the end? Hoffman still isn't dead. What happened to Amanda?

I mean, one guy vs the internet, it probably is the last one, but I think they could make a new one if it was viable.

It actually bugged me to know who the other 2 hooded figures with Dr Gordon were. Amanda died at the end of the 3rd one, she is long dead and gone

I'm aware that the later Saws have messed with the timeline a bit, but as far as I'm aware Amanda appeared near the end of V or VI (sorry, not really sure which one) and to me, she appeared alive and well.

Unless I've mis-understunderood the timeline, if I have please correct cos it does do my head in sometimes! :)

After the credits roll on the Director's Cut of Saw VI Amanda is seen talking to Corbett (Jeff Reinhart's imprisoned daughter) through the door of the room she's captive in, urging her not to trust Hoffman when he saves her. This is playing with the timeline...the events of Saw III and Saw IV run together concurrently, so when Saw IV is playing out Amanda is still alive. This means that the scene at the end of the 6th one is a flashback. Sometime after Amanda spoke to Corbett she is killed by Jeff Reinhart. I really don't know why the producers put in the post-credits scene in the 6th one, it wasn't needed
