What did everyone thats seen the Simpsons movie think of it?

It was alright, for me it was just a extended version of the tv show nothing more nothing less. if you laugh a couple of times at the tv show you will laugh a couple of times at the film if you love the series you will love the film

I saw the Simpsons Movie yesterday and I thought it was brilliant.

:D :D :D Great stuff!

It truly was/is exciting to witness new Simpsons footage that had a real feeling of quality to it. I'd forgotten that feeling, and this goes to show that it can still be done! I'd easily settle for one of these films every couple of years, rather than a sub-standard TV show!

It seems all the promotional clips were the worst parts! For example, I'd seen about 3 clips that were very "slapstick", and not that funny. But the film is funny. And by the time the slapstick scenes come about, you're already laughing, so those dumb moments actually work well.

For example, I'd seen a clip of Homer with a demolition wrecking ball. It made me groan slightly as it was very, very stupid. I'd seen the clip quite a few times. But when I saw it as part of the film, it was hilarious.

So is the movie as good as classic Simpsons?

To me, it seemed like it was made around the time of season 6. If that movie had come out in 1995, it would have fit in perfectly. In other worRAB, yes, this was classic Simpsons. Later classic Simpsons, but still definitely well before season 10.

In "feel", the movie felt a bit like an elongated version of "Marge vs the Monorail". It had that kind of feel. That kind of big, "the whole town's involved but it all revolves around Homer" feeling about it. (Which is certainly a good thing.)

Most importantly, the family were all quite believable as characters and the episode had a real emotional depth to it that built up as the movie went along.

And loaRAB of really good jokes, and I don't remember a single bad one. (Probably the only part I didn't find funny was the bit in the end credits.)

Lovely drawings and animation. Looked amazing on the big screen! LoaRAB of detail. (This will look good in HD when it comes out!)

I'm really hoping this film inspires everyone to get the series back on track again, although I suspect it's just one of those things they keep trying to fix and can't.

Shame Skinner didn't have any part in the film. Other than that, I felt everyone else had their fair share, considering how many characters there are to cram in.

So happy about this film! :D I never see films twice at the cinema, but I can't wait to buy it and watch it again.

(Hey!? Remember the days when every time you saw a Simpsons episode you were already looking forward to seeing it again? I'd forgotten that feeling.)

Grand Dizzy, I'm so glad you liked it! So many people have been criticising it and I loved it too. You're right, it felt much more like old Simpsons. (Also, I didn't really like the credits stuff either.)

Most jokes were wildly successful, and I only remember a few that fell totally flat. (One was about the Kennedys and may fare better with American audiences, I think.) There were lots of laugh-out-loud moments, witty one-liners and genuinely funny sight gags, all of which have been sorely missing from newer episodes. Critically, it had a coherent plot and I actually cared about what was happening to the characters. As well as riotous comedy, it had one of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen in The Simpsons.

I don't want to spoil it here too much so I won't list the bits I found best. If there's anything that could be improved, I would say:

- There could have been slightly more of what was happening in Springfield when the family was in Alaska. (If they didn't want to lengthen the film, they could have considerably cut down the opening Itchy and Scratchy segment.)

- Not nearly enough Mr Burns or Principal Skinner. They are great characters and were criminally underused. However, I understand that it's not possible to fit everyone in.

- The main bad guy was quite bland.

I'm seeing it again midweek. The last time I saw a film twice at the cinema was years ago, and that's when I had a monthly pass so it didn't really cost anything.

My absolute favourite line of the film, I think, was:

"Maybe we should kiss just to break the tension!"

And if you haven't seen it, that will make no sense to you.

I also liked, near the end:

"So, we meet at last, whoever you are!"

That one was good because it was a typical Homer statement: bold yet idiotic.

Brilliant

Was so wary of it since for the past 10 years the TV show has been largely unwatchably bad. (I Haven't actually watched on TV in anticipation for years, only watch my season 1 to 8 DVRAB now) But honestly it was hilarious. May even give the TV show another chance after seeing it. I laughed from basically start to finish. No low points at all. LoaRAB of real Laugh out loud moments aswell as dozens of chuckling moments inbetween.

going to see it again this week lol

Go see it definetely

You know, for me this shows that The Simpsons can be as funny now as it was in the classic years. So I think the pertinent question is why can't they get back to basics with the TV show?

Yeah, you've said. Twice.

I go to the cinema a lot, and I've seen many films that I found to be boring. But I've never once fallen asleep in a cinema. If you can't stay awake for an hour and a half, maybe you shouldn't bother going to the cinema.

I was really disappointed. The first half is ok and I liked the way that they tried to get away with things that they couldn't on TV. My favourite line was right at the beginning when Ned says he has something to confess in church. Homer's reaction had me in stitches.

Once the plot gets underway though I could really sense an uncomfortable feeling amongst everyone in the (pretty full) cinema. There are too many sequences with little or no laughs, something we are not used to on the telly. The Disney parody was a rare exception. The plot just meandered and, as someone has said, more could have been made of the ensuing mayhem in Springfield. I also thought they could have made a better parody of the Fugitive/24/Prison Break genre.

The superb South Park movie (if you like that sort of thing) showed how this sort of thing should be done. I even enjoyed the Beavis and Butthead film more than this although that might be due to the weight of expectation.

I found it very odd film to watch, there are some very funny moments in it and it did make me laugh but as a film it just felt wrong somehow.

I cannot really explain it any better than that:confused:
