What dictates being a man/woman?

Honestly, I have NO IDEA what dictates in being a man or woman. I always see people say this is what it means to be a man and what to do and not to do. This is what it means to be a woman in what to do and not to do. What makes someone a man? What makes someone a woman? I thought just being yourself, trying to grow and learn in life makes you a man and woman because you are just trying to better your life and learn from mistakes. But, I see all these things about this makes you be a man/woman by following these ideals or label yourself as this to uphold your masculinity/femininity. I feel bad honestly because it is getting freaking annoying seeing people who are either male or female attacked for not being a man or woman. Not everyone is going to be born with knowing how to be a man or woman, we are mostly born learning how to be ourselves and grow in life.

I honestly am tired of hearing about what makes a man/woman. There are bad things in this world that are horrible that is inflicted towards those, but people uphold this law of not doing bad things and such makes you a real man/ real woman when ANYONE is capable of doing bad things (and those real men and women have done bad things in their life also, doesn't make things better in claiming to be a real man or real woman. It's just claiming something and I wonder if people get challenged for claiming they are a real man or woman). What is your take on this? Tried avoiding stepping on toes with this question, but if you took it as that way, wasn't trying to offend you.

What I mean also in a man/woman supposedly being something is that they are suppose to act a certain way or give support to their masculinity or femininity by doing things that are considered manly/womanly or supposedly are things that are suppose to be manly/womanly (like how it is still seen today in the media in how it shows how what ways to be more of a man or woman and such. Isn't just media also, it is also in literature). .
Even though times are different, I still think it exist in how others perceive how someone should act based on their gender sadly. In this age, it isn't like what it was in the past, but there are new traces of how people perceive someone based on their gender and how they should act in the new era we live in (to me it is more subtle I guess or people just don't admit it)

Just how the genders are. I know the lines r blurred a bit more, as not everyone just knows how to b a man or woman and just fit into the societies they're in. But generally, there's a way women act n generally, there's a way men act. Generally, men r more dominant physically than women. But this changes too, because women use their "feminine wiles" to dominate men, n sometimes, r perceived as manly due to their dominance. On the contrary, if men submit to women for any reason, some might say they're a bit feminine. No one seems to care what works for others and how they're happy or sad.
