What device would i use to record the sound of storms, or beach waves.?

So im looking for something that i can use to record the sound of the rain and thunder in a very high quality. Im looking to make my own cds to listen to and i would appreciate it if someone could tell me what type of device i need to buy in order to make a cd. Something portable and works very well. If someone could tell me what i need or send me a link that would be great :)
