What cultures practice ritualÂ* scarification?
Ok, so: I did a scarification on my arm about 9 months ago of a triangle on my left forearm (just the outline, equilateral, about 1.5-2 inches), and now I am trying to think of a way to explain it if I go to a job interview.
I told someone previously that I did it because of my native American heritage (I'm part Cherokee) but I'm not sure if they have any history of doing it. I'm also Italian, Sicilian, british, german, etc.
Are African tribes the only ones who practice ritual scarification? Is there any chance native Americans ever did it?
Note: I don't regret it at all. It's cultural, just not many people understand the culture of me.
