What could this be?

Hey. This is my first time posting to here. Here is the issue!!

A couple months back, I started to cough up bloody phlegm. I was given antibiotics, chest x-rays, and sent home. I got better in a couple of days. Then about 2 weeks ago, I was sleeping like crazy! I am a HIGHLY active person, and a person who gets 6-7 hours of sleep on a normal basis. But when it was time to get up and go to the gym at 5AM, I was just not able to get out of bed. I was sleeping about 13-14 hours a night! And even then I was dragging the rest of the day. I was doing the minimal that needed to be done in my day. Then I started to cough up the bloody phlegm again. I actually had a bit confusion as well. I say this, because. It was a Friday afternoon. I kept thinking "man I dont want to have to wait till Monday to call the Doctor!" I knew it was Friday. But for some reason it just wasn't clicking in my head I could still call the Dr. About 4PM, it just dawned on me. I went in, and she gave me a cup to put any bloody phlegm in, to take to the lab, antibiotics, and a TB test. I was saposse to go back in to have the TB test read, but never did. (I dont drive or have a vehicle, so its complicated. Normally I walk everywhere. In a normal week, it is common for me to walk at least 6+ miles a day, every morning alone I walk 4.5 miles to and from the gym) But being sooo tired, I just couldn't get where I needed to be. I have friends that can help, but lately, all of them havent been able to. Two friends who are always there to help me, where in Disney world.

But I never coughed up more bloody phlegm either to put in the lab cup thing either. I just took the antibiotics and felt better. So I figured I would just keep going about my life. Which I did.

Monday night, I started to get a terrible terrible headache. I went to bed early. I did a couple things I needed to do on Tuesday. But as soon as I got home at noon, I went right to sleep, and slept mostly till now. I would get up mainly to use the bathroom and drink water like a camel, and back to bed. Then this morning I started to cough up the bloody phlegm AGAIN. Before I was sleeping like 20-22 hours a day. I did that for about 5 days. My head has been hurting so bad. Simply moving my head hurts. I realized how much I shake my head to get my hair out of my face, because I regret it each time I do it now. It hurts like no ones business.

Also I get out of breath VERY easily. Simply putting away dishes can make me need to sit down and catch my breath. (This is from a person who swims mad laps every morning, does weight training, and walks everywhere!) The sleeping is ridiculas! Last night I woke up and decided to eat some soup. I had like 4 spoons, and HAD to go back to bed. I was just to tired to even stay awake to eat.

I am starting to get extremely concerned at this point. What could this possibly be?

I don't know what you have, but it sounds pretty darn serious to me. I think you should be thoroughly checked out including complete blood work. DON'T WAIT! Let us know how you make out...

Sure sounds like you have pneumonia.Probably the anitbiotic you took did not clear up the chest infection the first time and it is back worse. You need to seek medical attention today!

I will let you guys know what happens tomorrow. (well today technically I guess). I got a sample of what I have been coughing up to the hospital lab, via friends. And have been back to my obsessive sleeping. My headache is coming back with a vengance, and all I can do is SLEEP! I will update ya after the appointment. Thank you so much for your replies. I really do appreciate it. I will be sure to get complete blood work tomorrow!

Your weakness and sleepiness makes me think of my aunt's symptoms. She was eventually diagnosed with acid reflux and ulcers. She was bleeding internally and getting weaker and weaker. The doctor should do bloodwork on you IMMEDIATELY to see if you have any internal bleeding.

Keep us posted!

Basically she thinks the fatigue is because my pulse ox is low. They did blood work, a TB test (AGAIN!), I have a CT on Monday, and they are setting up a appointment with a pulmonary specialist. So once all that stuff gets figured out, I guess I will better know what to do from here.
