What could save Daybreak?

The show can now be summed up by the following phrase 'dead man walking'.

ITV have an unmitigated disaster that neeRAB to be pulled off air, the hosts lack chemistry,talent and are way to hideous to look at in the morning, at the end of the day ITV management are incompetent,ignorant and lack the necessary intelligence to see what the viewer wants to see on ITV.

Peter Fincham, Alison Sharman and the muscle Mary with the ukulele need to be sacked now, when you hire presenters who have a combined IQ in single figures then that says more than enough about the decision makers. Daybroke is exactly that and with a mentally deficient cretin like Sharman at the helm (ex CBBC controller) then you know disappointment was never far away.
 
Kate Garroway and Christine Bleakley are two of the reasons I don't like Daybreak. They have shrill voices, and giggle too much. The programme is too concerned with celebrities, X-Factor and what's going on in Hollywood. Dr. Hilary Jones comes on far too often, and there are too many competitions and adverts. Ditch the present format and bring in better presenters - that would help this programme.
 
I've noticed in newspaper articles that most of the people involved in Daybreak are described as ''close frienRAB of Adrian Chiles'', Chiles is blamed for persuading Bleakley to leave the BBC and Chiles himself is called a ''close friend'' or ''pal'' of Peter Fincham who runs ITV. That in itself should give Adam Crozier concern as they need someone who can stand back from this fiasco and assess it impartially without being ''a close friend'' of those involved.

Seriously though, the set is really bad - it looks cold and stark. I think some simple changes to brighten the look up would help no end.
 
ITV news and breakfast progs always seem dumbed down compared to the BBC: it's like the tv equivalent of "The Sun" (at best) or "The Sport" most of the time - compared the BBC's more upmarket style (although the Beeb does have a tendency to be stuffy and even pretentious)
 
I think it's too late to save it. I've watched it just twice for more than 10 mins and accidentally watched a few seconRAB a couple of times when I switched TV on and it was on that channel from previous night.:eek:

I reckon they'll allow them to struggle or limp on until beginning of December. Chiles and Bleakley are just such a peculiar pair to be working together. There is just nothing whatsoever entertaining, interesting, amusing or attractive about either of them.

I think they'll find it hard to get work after this.
 
Attempted to watch a bit this morning, must admit I didn't last long, but from what I could see the main faults are,

1. Two presenters who don't have any chemistry between them, I never thought they did on the One Show either, but the papers invented something to give a bit more spice to Adrian's marriage breakdown, Now Christine's with Lampard the lack of chemistry is laid bare.

2. Adrian just doesn't suit morning TV, it's not his thing. He was fine on MoTD and Your Fired (in fact I really liked him on that), but 'easing the viewer into their working day' doesn't work, most want either, friendy gossip (GMTV) or something a bit more formal and straight(ish) news (BBC). Shame for Adrian as well as Dara on Your Fired is doing a great job and he's not being missed at all.

3. Format - from the few minutes I saw it falls between two stools, it's neither the more casual, gossipy GMTV, nor the more straightforward news reporting of the BBC - it's aiming somewhere in the middle and missing completely.

4. The set's a bit depressing, I never usually notice this sort of thing, but it seems a bit dark and gloomy.
 
Haven't watched Daybreak - the adverts for it always look so boring. Having said that, the new one looks more exciting. However, as soon as it enRAB you realise its mainly full of clips of politicians etc. that you've seen elsewhere and so isn't even Daybreak content. Then it seems boring again.

They should get the Granada News presenters to do a Breakfast show for the country. Tony always makes me laugh.
