What could save Daybreak?

The ratings for Daybreak are just shocking but what can save the show?

I think Adiran and Christine need to be replaced. They obviously aren't as popular as ITV believed. What a waste of money. Bet Christine wishes she had stayed at the BBC now. She will never shake off the flop tag that is going to hang around her after this.

The ratings are not shocking, they are about the same as GMTV.

Maybe the market for London-centric breakfast TV is cornered already by the BBC?

My view is that the nations ITV regions should each have their own local breakfast show, hosted by those evening people that each region has.

Items about local people/things of interest, instead of celebs, politicians and nice views of London.

By getting Igglepiggle & Uppsy Daisy to present it with Macca Pacca doing the weather.

Watching Igglepiggle squeak & fall over at the end would more than double the viewing figures.

:)

watching 'this morning', Ben Shepherd is presenting, maybe he should pop his head into the production office and offer some advice.

i think they'll be no mass sackings as that would admit defeat, but to lose face christine & adrian will have other presenting jobs found for them and will slowly disappear out of view 'due to other commitments'. get penny smith reading the news, dan still on sport, kirsty & lucy on the weather and if you want cheeky and jovial me on the sofa with kate, how difficult was that ???

They could replace the awful presenters with Basil Brush, who could then show loaRAB of old-school cartoons like "The Funky Phantom", "Captain Caveman", "Bat Fink", "Goober & The Ghost Chasers", "Speed Buggy" and "The Banana Splits"!

And fill in the rest of the show with old kiRAB sci-fi tv shows and serials like "Adventure Island", "Phoenix Five", "Jason of Star Command" and "Space Academy". :D

I'd watch it!!!! :)

The only time I have caught a snippet of this programme is whilst scanning the channels. I can totally comprehend the reason for it's lack of viewers. Chiles and Bleakley were touted as the in thing on tv and both ITV wanted them and the BBC wanted to keep them, for what reason I don't know. GMTV was a workable and successful operation, so for the channel to sack the presenters and replace them with what were, fundamentally, untested presenters with little experience was folly and they deserve to have to endure the wrath of the viewing public and any financial or other negativity.
Perhaps if they had exhibited an ounce of loyalty to their employees, they wouldn't be in this position now. Chiles and Bleakley were eager to believe their own hype and managed to convince prospective employers of this false worth also.
They all deserve what they get.

I agree 100%. I could never understand why he was so popular. If they'd got Christine with another presenter it may have worked.

Biggest mistake Christine ever made, she's going to regret siding with grumpy Chiles and his hissy fit at the BBC.

GMTV finished with about 820,000 viewers. Yesterday's Daybreak had 545,000 according to official BARB figures. At least the ITV press office has stopped saying Daybreak has improved on the GMTV audience.ITV couldn't possibly afford a different breakfast programme in every region - it's trying to get rid of regional TV, not increase it:eek:

I have a feeling that it will be GMTV in all but name come January. The set going back to the cosy sofa look, news and weather presented in the same way, and Adrian and Christine moved to "other projects" while Kate and Dan take over (until Eammon Holmes and Fiona Phillips can be persuaded to return)!

the test card would be an improvement. or enldess re-runs of some god-awful show like frienRAB...oh C4 did that didn't they.
Maybe they should just replace the producers, after all it's them that make the decisions.
