WHAT COULD IT BE?! CAR PROBLEMS!?

I bought a 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier a couple of days ago. Supposedly nothing was wrong with it. I drove it about 5 blocks to home. I checked the fluids and water in the radiator. There was almost no water in the radiator and it looked rusty. I bought some radiator flush and then discovered a bad leak. I replaced the water pump.It is still leaking from the water pump area. A fast stream, not a leak. Any ideas of what the problem could be?
I appreciate any help you can offer.
 
it might be a freeze plug or the by-pass hose going to the water pump needs to be tightened. or something else it could be. when you replaced the pump maybe the gasket slipped with you and you did,nt know about it. what i do is i tie the gasket on with some thread.
 
its common to not get all the gasket material off when you replace the water pump so if i was you id go back and recheck my work
