What could diarrhea, dizziness, and hot/cold flashes have in common?

My roommate has been ill. She was walking around yesterday and became dizzy. She felt better after 2-3 hours but today when she woke up she had diarrhea all day and didnt dare eat anything. She did stay hydrated though. She has also been going through hot and cold flashes all day.
 
Could be anything viral..GI virus, flu or food poisoning..you never know..the hot flashes are probably her fever coming and going.
