What Could Cause A Car Stereo To Quit.?

I heard a very loud static noise then the sound just quit. The display still shows the time, radio staion and the song but there is no sound. The Car is a 2004 Chev Impala. If anyone could tell me what could have happend that would be great
 
Check the wiring, if thats good maybe its just blown. How can we know what happened over the internet? LOL. Perhaps you should take it to a car audio shop and they will figure it out.
 
Many Impala's have a factory amplifier located under the rear deck in the trunk. It sounds like your car's amplifier may have failed. Check your fuses--the amp should have its own fuse in the vehicle's fuse box.
 
Sounds like some speaker wires either 1 touched or 1 hit the frame... I can't say for certain but I would check the components first... If you have an amp, check the fuses... I'm thinking it's the wiring or a hardware failure in the head unit(assuming it's stock with no amp).
