...been changed? I just had the battery changed today and the battery light has not gone off. I had it come on about 2 weeks ago during a bad snow storm. The car turns on ok but I don't know what it could be. A sensor maybe?
 
that light comes on any time the car is running on the battery alone really. if the alternator has failed or is failing, the light will come on. if the serpentine belt brakes or slides off, the light will come on. a blown fuse in the charging system will do this at the same time. i would get the charging system tested out and see where you sit.
 
Have your alternator checked at Auto Zone (Free). Your problem is not with the serpentine belt or your engine would overheat.
