Ok i drive a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, V6, automatic, with power everything with about 85,000 miles on it currently. I haven't had to do any major repairs on it but i'm afraid that time is coming. This week my car has started acting up. Now keep in mind this week the temp in my area just got very cold roughly 19 degrees at night every day this week since the problem started. I park in an open parking garage at the hospital i work at so my car is exposed to the cold all night while i work. (i'm a night shifter). Two nights in a row now when i leave work to go start my car it does this: I get in the car and put in the key and the headlights and radio come on like always but when i turn the key all the way forward nothing happens, it doesn't turn over or even attempt to crank, just dead silence. The headlights and radio continue to work fine like always. It usually takes 5-6 attempts at starting my car before she finally turns over and gets going. But those first 5-6 attempts its almost like the battery is dead and i have no juice, except i know that's not it cuz the lights and radio work. Could my starter be going out? Or is my car just not liking the recent freezing weather? Any input is appreciated.
Just FYI the battery in my car is the original factory battery for it is about 5 yrs old. I will start there since it's the easiest to pull and check. And if thats all good i'll move on to the starter. Thanks guys.
