noise my children make.? 3 young children. We are on eggshells trying to keep them quieter. We live in a town home with a shared sub floor. Have done what we can--But they still complain even at 3 in the afternoon when it gets a little noisy with the kids are all piling in from school. Have told toddlers, guests, family members to all be quiet in our home. When is enough--enough? We feel almost harassed. They curse, wave phone books at us and threaten to call police at 7:40 pm? My kids can't move in their own home. Help. I want to be considerate, but when is it too much?

They can call the cops all they want but if the cops show up and find that you are not violating noise regulations for your area, they can't DO anything...

I would go online and print up a copy of the exact details of the noise ordinances in your area. Then mail a copy to your neighbors.

When I lived in a condo in Tucson... The people above me b*tched CONSTANTLY about MY noise, which was basically just a TV or me playing a CD in my bedroom after school, while they allowed their baby to SCREAM for hours on end...

One time, I had an allergic reaction to a new soap and they came over the next day and screamed about me using the shower every few hours that night to stop the itching so I didn't tear a hole in my skin as I rashed up...

Some people just aren't happy if they are not complaining...

Sounds like they are the ones who need to learn some consideration. If it was after 9:00 PM, I could understand... but it most cities, the legal "noise violation" time is around 10:00 pm anyways. What are they doing trying to have peace and quiet at 3:00 anyways? Do they not work?

Either way ... I think you have done all you can, and in my personal opinoin, more than you are obligated to do as a good neighbor. If they have that much of a problem with noise, they need to move to a single family home that does not share walls or floors. One of the benefits of townhouses/duplexes is definately NOT peace and quiet all the time.

If it gets worse, speak to your landlord if you feel you are being harassed. Dont let them run you out.
