What comics (series name or author) are appropriate for a 4 year old.?

My son loves to sneak into my room and read my DMZ comics which are really mature. I want to find him something without sex and violence but maybe sans the kiddie fluff. He is really smart and we are trying not shelter him or push religion on him.
