What color should I paint my room?

It's not a small room, not a big room either. Although I'd like to it look bigger.

I have white furniture, and I don't want a girly-girl room, I want a color that will go with my Beatles and Led Zeppelin posters (so not a pink)

I was thinking red, but apparently that makes your room look smaller, which I want mine to look bigger.

What do you think?
 
do it white and black? or maby black and white checker`d or get some of the paint thats the same material they use on chalkboards so you can write all over your room with chalk lol. i think home hardware has it.
 
Unfortunately bold, bright colours make small rooms look smaller so go with maybe deeper or more neutral colours, like instead of a bright red go for more of a maroony red, get what i mean? or you could just paint three walls like a light brown or tan, and then have a focal wall with coordinating wallpaper with a nice pattern...good luck!
