What clothes should you wear when camping in the desert?

My school's week without walls is in a few days and I'm going camel trekking, What shoes are best for the sand? Jean shorts/tshirts okay for the day time?

I know I have to dress for cold weather at night, so I just need to know about the day time/shoes and stuff. Thanks so much!
