i got a job at olive garden, but i don't feel like im making as much as i anticipated. Any advice on where i could work? or do mom n pop restaurants tend to make more?

A good place tend to be high end restraunts that serve alcohol. Ones in the inner city that are always packed and you need reservations for will always have a heavy supply of customers. Look for someplace with a high priced menu, and a good reputation. I currently work at Bob Evans, and make around 15% average for tips, but since the price of the tab is so low, it doesn't come out to much at the end of the night. I am trying out a cheescake factory soon, so I hope that will go a little better. Look professional, sound friendly, but not fake, and be prompt. Goodluck

Cheesecake Factory, Morton's, etc. Higher price points=higher checks=higher tips. The type of clientele that Olive Garden attracts does not tip well, the same with Friday's and Chili's-type places - you're just going to have to deal with a**holes who think that 15% is a great tip.
