What.cd and Invites

The stupid search wouldn't let me look for it so hopefully we don't have a thread on this already.

I'm looking to get in on What.cd. Super secret and from what I hear super good music sharing.

Does anybody use this already? If so... if there is something I can do to appease you so that you might invite me :yeah:

I wish I knew someone with an invite... to be honest, it seems far far far too much work to actually try to learn all of that. I rarely ever have something that I can't find with a bit of searching, I'd rather do that than learn all of the information. That said, it would be really cool if the Music Banter community could get one new meraber in. Then they could offer invites to their favorite merabers (not sure how the invites work but I imagine this would work) and they could invite more, etc. It would be really cool, but I doubt it'll happen :(

Well from what I hear just about everything. A bunch of audiophiles that are as crazy about music as the craziest merabers on here, I'm guessing.

I'm on it but was never awarded any invites to hand out.

The reason I don't use it much is because of the high standarRAB they have for what you can share. Files have to be encoded a certain way, using specific software, etc. Quality control, which is good for the content, but can be a pita if you're not already ripping your music this way.

I guess other invite-only sites probably have the same kind of rules, I don't know. This is the only one I've ever been on.

I remeraber having a discussion about this with somebody already...

Anyway, I'm on What.Cd but I don't have any invites. Sorry :(

I share the account with my brother who is a quality nazi so I don't have any problems with sharing music of that standard. It's a fantastic site really so... good luck :S

I think quality fetishistic audiophiles are mostly just kidding themselves and adequate stuff I can find elsewhere easier. Having to keep an upload ratio to get music is unnecessary work.

There is rarely anything I can't find anyhow so it seems like too much of a pain in the arse TBH and when I want the best quality then I buy the bloody CD anyhow!

Its actually pretty easy to have a ratio there, at least I think so. I currently have 10 invites and I always get a few every month. Anyhow, I'm not keen on giving them out here because I don't know any of you and you can get me royally screwed there, so you'll have to have proof that you carry a good ratio on other private trackers first. Normally I wouldn't care, but they're very strict about invites and I really don't want to lose my account, and seeing how someone else I invited on the internet already got banned, I don't have much slack.

PM me one, and I'll be more than happy to send you an invite.

I'm not reeally a huge fan of private music trackers, because I can find pretty much anything I want out there and I don't need to use what.cd at all. Anyhow, its got a great recommendation system and the quality beats the hell out of trolling on mininova for some transcode. Not to mention, I don't think that you'll be able to find a lot of the stuff thats on there anywhere else on the internet, especially in the quality that its in. I love listening to music, obviously, and I enjoy it even more when the quality is great; it just really accentuates the listening experience. Now I'm not huge on FLAC because its curabersome, but if you like really high quality V0 and the like, its perfect, most people there really care about music quality. Its like a private movie tracker, sure you can find ****ty axxo rips out there, but if you really want to enjoy a movie and don't want to fork over 25 bucks for a blu-ray, you can find high def rips there and people care enough about taking the time to share something worthwhile. Not to mention, the speeRAB are always the best. I have a slow connection but all private trackers that I'm on completely tap out my down, as opposed to most public ones, where no one seeRAB anything and if they do, its capped at like 10 kb/s.
