What caveats would you offer to someone who wanted to be a lawyer without law school?

Suppose they're smart enough to pass the BAR without law school, what happens after they pass?

Firms actually hirer people without law school credentials?
Doesn't make sense to me, do all states allow this?
I'm guessing Richard didn't like the first 2 answers, I gave everyone a thumbs up!
