I have a car, over 10 years old, with electric windows.
For the last few months, the driver's side window has been quitting on me. It doesn't grind to a halt or make noises; it just STOPS. The button does nothing.
The strange part is that it will suddenly start working again if I leave it alone. It's almost as though it heats up and has to cool off. The longer I leave it alone, the more time I will have for it to work the next time.
If it were the motor or a stuck window, you'd think it would grind or strain, not just quit working. So there must be some kind of protection device.
Surely, someone knows what this is.
What is it and what should I do to fix it? What parts needs work, and is it likely I need to replace that part?
