About 2 months ago I was looking at myself in the mirror and saw the weirdest thing, my belly button was shifted to the right and my upper body was at an angle. It's like my whole body was shifting to the right. I don't know if this what's causing the intense pain I'm having now. I went to see my general dr. yesterday and asked him what he thought. He asked me if I looked like this before I had surgery(Laminectomy/Disectomy L-3-5 in '06). I told him no, he said it looks likes scoliosis. Could the surgery cause this movement? The Dr.couldn't give me anymore information because my back situation is a wc issue. Looking through my dr. reports one my dr's wrote I have congenital stenosis and another wrote I have severe stenosis of the spial canal. I'm still waiting to see my new pm dr. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It does sound like scoliosis. Was the doctor not "allowed" to take x-rays due to it being a WC issue? I don't know if the laminectomy could cause scoliosis, but a new x-ray will certainly at least be something that could be compared to previous ones to see if you had a mild scoli that's gotten worse or if it's a new issue. I would start going through whatever hoops WC requires to get this looked at. The longer it goes untreated, the more likely it will get worse. Some people have no pain whatsoever from scoliosis, but others (like me) have severe pain.

If it's not scoliosis, push for tests to find out what's going on. I know it's hard when you have to follow someone else's rules, but do what you can.

Wishing you the best,
Emily

I've always thought of scoliosis as a developmental problem (shows up during youth/teen years). Make sure to get it checked out soon to see what could be causing the shift. Could it be muscular (some type of spasm "pulling" you one way?)

Most cases of scoliosis are developmental, that is, they occur during childhood up to the point that the individual finishes growing. But there are two types of scoliosis that can occur in adults: neuromuscular and degenerative. So it's worth looking into, I think.

Thanks for the replies, I called my attorney and he said I should be getting a call from my new pm dr. He said to bring up this new change to the dr. There's not much I can do right now but lay here,t hank god for laptops! No dr. will see you because it being a wc case. So I'll just keep on researching till I see the dr.
