What car to buy? Dodge Caliber 2009?

im looking into buying a car and just wondering if anyone has one in particular they think would be best.

im looking for a car that looks fairly nice, is under 20,000 (not including rebates)

right now im just about set on a dodge caliber 2009 ($18,000), is this a good car?

in the end the caliber would only cost me 7500 after a 6000$ rebate the dealer offered right off the bat and 4500 from cash for clunkers

is this a good deal? should i try to go lower? they seem to have a lot on the lot and he was very quick to offer the 6000$ reduction (i didnt even has about pricing)
 
don't buy any american car, bad money investment at the moment.

plus the caliber is one of the many reasons why dodge went belly up
 
i buy and sell cars and have more trouble selling in-ports than americans ford chevy and dodge sell quicker than in-ports. by the way dodge is doing better off than most other co. the dodge truck is #1 in the country. toyota built a manufacture in tx to try to sell trucks and the # 1 selling truck in tx is still dodge then ford then chevy. go american
 
Right now, I hate to say it, but buying a Dodge is not a good investment. Granted, you're going to lose money on any car you buy, but an American car is alot of added risk. Maybe in a couple years when the American car market stabilizes will it be okay to buy US.
I would suggest buying a Hyundai. My family probably has bought Hyundai for the past 5+ years and we love them! Many neighbors and friends have purchased them within the last couple of years as well and I've not once heard a complaint! Only positives! The cars are high quality and have been receiving many awards for great design, fuel efficiency, and outstanding, high quality features for the money!
If you've been looking at the Caliber, which is a hatchback, I would suggest the Hyundai Elantra. It is definitely within your price range. It can be purchased as a sedan or as a hatchback as well. Plus, Hyundai now features gas for 1.49 for a year! With no hidden catches. Also, they have their Hyundai Assurance program, so I would check that out too. If you're not feeling the Elantra, check out the other Hyundai models. Hyundai Assurance really is a great program that helps many people to be able to buy a new car with confidence during these times of economic uncertainty.
If you're big into "American-made" just know that most Hyundai plants are here in the United States!
